Azriel's journal entry for 1 Spring, 547 contains reports on hunting at Melabrion's Island and on the gemsmith who lives in the castle there. Azriel also tells of fighting a Forest Drake in North Forest and notes that the Coliseum has fallen far behind in stocking recently discovered beasts.

I've always figured the creatures in the Coli were chosen as a ladder of sorts, a set of standards to represent fights of varying difficulty. But then, I don't remember any new beasts being chosen, ever.
