Research of Cear'vae

cearvae.gif

Cear'vae is conducting some research on how creatures react to certain substances. Exiles can help his research by visiting him in the basement of the healers' temple and volunteering to show the sample to various creatures. Bring a bottle.

Thanks to Liolel for this tip to TMN.

Though it is said that he'll 'reward' you, there is no noted reward. No coins, *You gain experience, etc.

Um, has anyone considered the ethical ramifications of this kind of testing? What exactly are these 'certain substances'? (And where can I get some?)

I hope these experiments have been properly reviewed by The Healer Temple Ethical Review Board! And what are we doing running around contantly attacking the many less or more advanced civilizations around us in an pseudo-imperialistic effort to steal land and pass circle tests?

Concerned,

Tad, what the heck are you talking about?

He's talking about the ethical treatment of the other species that reside in Puddleby!

It's Polerand's fault if the experiments hurt anyone.

who gives a crap if its ethical, will the research do something cool? and dont we butcher thousands of animals every day for fur?

What's the bottle for? Urine test?

Posted by: Odes on June 22, 2003 06:08 PM

Ooo, wait. He puts something in the bottle. Can you drink it?

Posted by: Odes on June 22, 2003 06:15 PM

Ah I see.

I'll stop attacking the other species in and around Puddleby when they stop attacking me first. Until then I'm merely defending myself from having my throat ripped out by every vermine, tiger, cat, and other assorted beasts when I merely wish to donate wood to the woodworking shop.

Monsieur Stinkfist has the right attitude -- they're going to be murdered in a matter of minutes after exposure to any substances anyway, so it's all good.

But Polerand will accept all blame related to the experiment going wrong. Or right.

I did get an experience reward, and one coin for every species I tagged.

I also noticed that I was not hit as much- does the sampeling vial have defensive properties?

I betcha Cear'vae just tinkles into the jar when you're not looking. So don't drink it!

Posted by: Odes on June 23, 2003 11:23 AM

On further tries I was given 10 coins as a pament, plus experience.

Has anyone considered that Cear'vae might be trying to formulate a new potion? I tried showing the sampling jar to the alchemists, but they didn't want to know about it. However I am thinking that once Cear'vae has a enough samples, he might develope a potion.

Please take a few minutes to do his quest, I believe it is in all of our best interests

Yeah, that was the first thing I thought when I saw him, its a perfect lead-in for a new potion. I think its just a "challenge" though.

It would be nice if they took it one step further at some point and we got a Creature Repellant Potion out of it. I have to wonder what kind of side-effects such a smelly concoction might have.

The door is open, maybe they will, maybe they won't.
