More Portal Shenanigans

portal_image_mirror.gif

A faintly glowing image of you in Dred Passage appears in the mirror.
Your passage is prevented by a distant force.

What mirror? I don't see any mirror. And who put the portal in the Dred Passage?

Updated: various exiles are reporting that the broken portal is a result of a Pogue Mahone plan gone awry to take it to the Foothills. The distant portal does not work apparently because it is in a restricted area. Pogue Mahone was not involved in moving the portal to the trainers' grotto.

I can get into the mirror from SF and when i tried to passd through purple mirror i saw a faintly glowing image of me in dred pass...

I cant get through the mirror that leads to purple portal

That it doesnt work beacuse its underground is bull, so is the rumor that it must be in sight of the sky to work, it worked perfectly well in both Bumegals hut and the outpost buildings.

The reason it doesnt work in DP is because by not letting people purg pendant out DP os a restricted area, so just like when it was put in the womans hut the teleporter is cut off from the rest of the mirror system

So noted.

Oh those Pogues!

Para, you get a sunburn?

Posted by: Odes on July 19, 2003 06:37 PM

I decided I needed a new look for summer.

Posted by: Para on July 19, 2003 07:20 PM

Ah! It suits! Maybe a nice tropical cloak would go good, too

now, what was the topic of this discussion?

Posted by: Odes on July 19, 2003 08:02 PM

aww, the portal became useless now.

Posted by: on July 19, 2003 10:55 PM

T'wasn't a plan to take it to the foothills. They were just being a bunch of pricks, as usual.

Posted by: Hidden on July 20, 2003 12:30 AM

as opposed to the people who took it to the the grotto, I suppose, leaving the 2nd and 3rd circle fighters who want to hunt the cloud screwed?

Posted by: althea on July 20, 2003 12:56 AM

Pogue Mahone!

Posted by: on July 20, 2003 01:00 AM

I fail to see how somehow the fact that ONE group of idiots took it to the trainers' somehow makes it OK or in ANY WAY more defensible for Pogue Mahone to take it to Dred Passage. Sorry, Althea, but that ain't flying.

Why don't you show some class or some leadership and put the damned thing back at the cloud? Or is that too much to ask? Knowing PM, I bet it is. Fine, right now the portal stands as a testament to all PM stands for: a dead end.

Posted by: on July 20, 2003 01:16 AM

and speaking of class and leadership, why don't you take credit for your comments by signing your name?

Posted by: Althea on July 20, 2003 01:37 AM

Oh, I dunno, Thea. That means Mr. Anonomous might have to grow a pair of balls at least as large as yours. =D

Personally, I'm all for PMF moving the portal again. Web Cavern sounds good to me...

Posted by: Sareth on July 20, 2003 02:36 AM

Mr. Anonymous doesn't want all that PMF bad karma.

And you notice Althea doesn't refute my last points.

Right now the portal is a dead end, and Pogue Mahone is to blame for that. Have they fixed that? Nope. Do they plan to or do they care? No, they are too busy saying "oh somebody else moved it first, so we can do whatever we want! Wah, wah, we're NOT the ones that moved it from the cloud."

At least when people moved it to the grotto it still went SOMEWHERE.

I say leave it. The portal with a dead end is a monument to Pogue Mahone. All exiles should tour it.

Posted by: Mr. Anonymous on July 20, 2003 08:23 AM

Hmmm So the portal is in DP. Cool what a challange for the "Community" (Google for my view on this word). I'm sure you all will have a blast deciding its proper destination organizing a group and setting things right.

I believe Paramedic has been offering his support to get it back to the cloud. Sounds like a group could have a lot of fun doing this and would probably feel good about their actions. You will probably learn a few things in the effort.

For me I'm happy with what I did I believe all the doors in CL have reasons I think this portal has its reason. However when I run into it in places I don't approve of I will do everything in my power to make sure it does not remain in those locations.

Pogue Mahone

PS: Monuments to Pogue Mahone are always welcome and encouraged. :)

Posted by: Klur on July 20, 2003 10:36 AM

So, Klur, has Pogue Mahone assigned itself the responsibility of policing the portal? It certainly sounds like it. Is this like the time when PM decided to become "game wardens"?

Posted by: Blinker on July 20, 2003 10:50 AM

:)

Posted by: Klur on July 20, 2003 10:56 AM

I am willing to help return the portal.

But I will say this: I am a lot less willing to help out with things like this if ANY group considers it some sort of "learning experience." I'm not here to clean up the messes of others.

Posted by: Paramedic on July 20, 2003 10:59 AM

Klur after reading that statement i think i see why people say you are full of it, dont try and pretend you or any of the other Pogues did this for the good of anybody.
Here are some quotes from a fellow Pogue

7/19/03 10:29:54p Pogue asks, "so you think maybe those who took it to trainer's grotto for their own use... you think it might be humorous to land in DP on yellow one at a time?"

7/19/03 10:30:25p Pogue says, "I think it would be hilarious"

7/19/03 10:34:17p Pogue says, "some members of PM indeed did it."

7/19/03 10:34:43p Pogue says, "to have the portal open in dp.

Posted by: Mjollnir on July 20, 2003 01:47 PM

Mr Cowardly Anon, what points am I supposed to address? you disagree that taking it to DP was ok. I think it was just fine.

You won't stand behind your words so you invoke the non-existant spector of the pmf karma boogiman. You're apparently afraid to stand up for what you believe in.

Posted by: Althea on July 20, 2003 01:51 PM

The simple fact of the matter is if you don't like where it is now move it. Personally i would like to see it placed deep in the FH so we could use it to explore that area to a much greater extent in a much faster fashon.

If you're one of those people who refuse to move it until some consensus has been made to where they should be put then you need to wake you ass up and realize a consensus will never be made.

I am somebody. The move was good in my view.

If the quotes identified are accurate someone possibly agrees for what ever reasons they offered.

The portals appeared when the "dark cloud" (which ain't a cloud - you can't stand on clouds) moved over the mirror snell. They appeared in that snell. Someone discovered they could be moved. One end of the portal link was then moved to the outpost, and the other to Falinea's garden. I was involved in that. I think (my memory may be faulty) that it was Mjollnir's idea. I know Gunslinger was involved. I had doubts, but in the end I think it was a good move for us low level types, as it made it easier to get to the mirror. Was it good for mid and high level types? Probably not, as to a large extent they don't care about getting there. Then it was found that only a few people could get through the mirror to the "cloud", so somebody moved the outpost end up there. That was good for a lot of low and mid-level types, 'cause it made the "cloud" easily accessible. Still no advantage to high level types. Then some folks moved both ends - to Snaggy and the OOB I think. Then others moved one end to Trainers Grotto and the other back to town. That again was a good thing for mid and upper low-level types. Or so it turned out IMO - I was originally peeved that access to the "cloud" was restricted again, but then that had already happened with the move to Snaggy/OOB. Still, however, no great advantage to high level types. Now the TG end is in DP. Advantage to high (and perhaps high mid, I dunno) level types, no advantage to the rest of us. The high level types who moved it say, basically "we did it, live with it". Conclusion: the 500 pound canary sits where he likes, and to Hell with everybody else. :-(

Eh, if I get my way, I'm still blowing up the fucking mirror so nobody gets to use it.

Posted by: Polerand on July 20, 2003 03:22 PM

It is my opinion that the portals should be moved back to the clouds.

Afterwards, and once the boat to Peaceton arrives, it could be placed abroad and moved to Peaceton, allowing more exiles access to the island.

Posted by: Phroon on July 20, 2003 03:24 PM

Those were my comments Mjollnir posted. No idea why he obscured my identity. I stand behind what I say .

Posted by: Althea on July 20, 2003 05:28 PM

This whole thing seems very silly to me. So there are portals. And people move them places. Does this really affect our lives so much that we have to insult each other to communicate opinions? I do think that the idea of teleporting easily is pretty neat. I think walking works just fine, also.
