Thoomlines

terrydil_fame.png

Org du Lac sent the following report to TMN:

Hey!

I would just like to mention that the tradition of forming Thoom lines, though no longer as prevalent as in the past, is not forgotten!

Terrydil realized the event was newsworthy, and hogged the sketch, distracting from the combined efforts of Drablak, Xort d'Mok, Halo, Moccati, myself, and later the elusive Thoomman.

The event was spectacular enough to draw both adoring fans and bitter non-Thooms, one of whom went so far as to attack the line, and another who attempted to pose as a Thoom (but his horizontal-impairedness gave him away as an imposter).

murder_most_foul.png

Also, the real newsworthy sketch, is that of my stunning 857 on my sparklestone. Unfortunately, this will be my all-time record, as it disappeared without a trace afterwards.

Quack!

quack.png

Creed sent the following report to TMN:

Hail Para,

I thought I would send a couple of brief reports from the lands.

One: since no one else has mentioned it, I simply must report on the mysterious intervention of the gods during Root's bard audition. One must view the sketch above I made to believe it.

terrytl.png

Two: it's been a while since I've seen a Thoomline in town, but just a few days ago Terrydil got to participate in his very first Thoomline. It was a most thoomish Thoomline, and a thoom time was had by all (even though no one would join in the rival human-fen-dorf-halfing-sylvan line, but I'm not bitter).

Cheers to all,
-Creed

Way to go, Halo!

Skydiving with Miratisu

parachute.gif

Miratisu sent the following report to TMN:

Hi, Para.

The other day, I went to the Cloud with Moccati, Cena, and Amrosar II. Amrosar II had never been to the Cloud before (I think). We went to the control room and Moccati moved the Cloud to over the farms. So since it would be an easy rescue I said we should go skydiving (this was the first time I had been able to go skydiving since I got a parachute). It was fun. People who jumped later than you but without a parachute will fall past you faster than you.

We all landed in Northeast Farms. Of course, I was the only one not fallen.

falleninfarms.gif

Moccati "won" because he is a mystic; he was nearly unrecognizable. Amrosar II was second; he was mutilated. Cena was third; because he fell the least, he was only mangled. I sunstoned for help and Creed and Kitlin came. Unfortunately, Creed's chain broke (please help Creed repair it!) but Kayander came to chain the fallen back to Town Center, where with help from other healers, everyone was raised again.

healingintc.gif

Amrosar asked why we jumped and I said it was because I suggested it, but I didn't tell anyone that it was because I had a parachute!

So the lesson is that if anyone asks you to go skydiving, maybe they have a parachute and you don't! It would be nice if more people had parachutes so we could all go skydiving without needing a rescue; maybe there should be a parachute-buying trip sometime.

Anyway bye for now,
Miratisu

PAG is Recruiting

pag_recruiting.gif

Cj parker sent the following announcement to TMN:

PAG is recruiting—wanna be a member, want to guest?

We always have an eye open for potential new members. We are looking for skilled fighters, healers and mystics, but we are quite short of healers at present. A bloodblader or (Noid) skilled ranger is also on the list, but we consider all applicants. We also take the odd guest with us on trips, if you would like to come along substone me on the day, but space is usually limited.

We try hard not to be restrictive on members, but if you know the area, you know the level of toughness we need. We would require 5th circle + for fighters or 3th circle + for healers (with cad skill). Mystics would need to be Full with good porting abilities, or good fast boosters. Specialists will be considered. Potential members will be guests while we "test them" before joining fully.

Lastly, and most importantly, is your availability the day we hunt: Thursdays. HOWEVER, we do the occasional weekend trip. Please state which (or both) you can make on your application.

HUNT TIME
7:30pm GMT/UTC
8:30pm/20:30 CET (Central European Time) (+1)
2:30pm EST (Eastern Standard Time) (-5)
1:30pm CST (Central Standard Time) (-6)
11:30am PST (Pacific Standard Time) (-8 )

You must be able to make this 60-80% of the time otherwise membership may be revoked.

Any questions about this, fire away. Please PM me with applications. If you don't have a Sentinel account, then email me at tidyup@tidyupSPAM.co.uk removing the word SPAM from the email address.

Previous applicants who we have had to turn down, please don't re-apply (sorry), but those who were striving to get the rank, feel free to pop me an email.

We're a nice bunch, so if you want some fun every week, then pop us an email.

Thanks
Cj parker for PAG

Lone Healer

Creed sent the following report to TMN:

Hail Para,

I'm sure your readers are getting tired of hearing from me, but I just had to share one more bit of recent news.

The other day I had a truly terrifying experience. I was innocently hunting in the passes with some nice fighter-types when we realized that . . .

. . . I was the only healer in the lands!

Luckily for me, nothing bad happened. But it sure was freaky while it lasted.

Cheers,

Rhone Leaves

Creed sent the following report to TMN:

Hail Para,

It is with great sadness that Clan Destine reports our beloved Sylvan fighter, Rhone, has returned to the mainland.

We will miss him very much. We'd like to pass along his farewell message to the clan, with his permission, to be posted for everyone to read who is interested.

Thanks,

Clan Destine . . .

It has been a long and great ride to the end. As promised a small selection of pictures and more. Rhone and Eden are not to be sold nor the account itself. I gave away all my gear including the bloodblade, which I have trained for the past year of Clan Lord, 250 ranks. I could two hit the GW in the 4th test with my characters health on yellow. I was strong there. I forgot to mention I turned Oot into a halfling. Haha

Ok- bye now.

Zo Method, Part II

night_wendy_kill.gif

Borkiron sent the following report to TMN:

Heya Para,

A while ago, I wrote in about using the Zo Method to pass my second circle healer test.

At that time, I didn't try it for my third-circle test and passed anyway. However, recently, I decided to retake my third-circle test using this method.

Now because of the time limit on the test, I knew I couldn't kill everything in the test. However, I decided that to kill one Night Wendecka would do as a proof of concept. Outside of the test, there would be no time limit, so if I could kill one Night Wendy, I could also kill three if necessary.

As you can see, I succeeded. Also, I didn't trap the Greymyr again and took hits from it (as well as one of the surviving Night Wendies) while raising Glory.

Some folks might ask, what is the point of this? Since in a real situation, healers would probably chain the fallen away, or lead the monsters away and lose them before returning to heal, or cad the fallen, or ask a fighter to kill the monsters instead, or something else, but not kill everything themselves. The point is that it's possible to do it if you wanted to.

If there was a real situation with someone fallen with three Night Wendies and a Greymyr, it's possible for a healer with no chain and no cad to solo rescue by killing the three Night Wendies, then blocking the Greymyr with his or her own body while raising the fallen. This doesn't mean you'd want to do it, or that it's smart to do it, or even that it makes sense to try (because new monsters would probably come in the meantime), but it's possible. This ability will come in useful in many less dangerous situations.

Anyway, for anyone who's interested, I made a visionstone of my test; it's now available at the Puddleby Visionstone Repository.

Chicken Returns; Klio Qualifies

chicken_returns.png

Chance sent the following report to TMN:

Hail, Para!

The Minis have been quite active of late, and I am proud to be able to bring more Mini-related news to the masses (who are no doubt hungry for it, ahem. Anyway . . . ).

We were thrilled when Maquiladora finally crawled out of the library into the light of day, and felt doubly blessed when our lil' chicken friend—a.k.a. Super Chicken —also made an appearance. He even joined his Mini Sisters and our guest, Kathy, in a hunt on the cloud!

He also instigated a GrabFoot™, in Town Center, of course

chicken_retn2.png

and demonstrated his morphin' powers.

We are also pleased to report that the Lady Klio has qualified for goss training! The image below shows a number of Minis celebrating in the smithy along with some friends.

The last sketch I am submitting is included because it's just funny. That's all I have to say about that.

Four Years of TMN

para_at_desk.gif

TMN is celebrating its fourth anniversary today. It's been a great four years for thoomcare.com. It's hard to believe it's been that long, and even harder to believe that the very first issue of Fishwrap Magazine came out just a little over six years ago. Thanks to Delta Tao for Clan Lord, and thanks to all of you who have visited and helped to support the site over the years.

Thoom!
